Our guides, cost ranges and FAQs are general information for homeowners. What they are, what they are not, and where an on-site inspection or your own insurer has to take over.

The guides, cost pages and FAQs on leakdetectionsantaana.com are published as general information for homeowners in Santa Ana and Orange County. They describe how leaks generally behave and how this work is generally done.
They are not a diagnosis of your property, and reading them does not create a contractor and client relationship between us. Every property is different. A warm spot on a floor can be a slab leak, or it can be a recirculation line doing exactly what it was installed to do. Only an on-site inspection can tell you which one you have.
If you smell gas: get everyone and any pets out of the house immediately, do not touch a light switch, phone or anything electrical on your way out, leave the door open behind you, and once you are a safe distance away and outside, call 911 and SoCalGas's 24/7 emergency line on 1-800-427-2200. Do not go back inside until SoCalGas or the fire department tells you it is safe.
No page on this website is a substitute for that sequence. The same applies to active flooding, an electrical hazard around water, or a sewage backup: deal with the emergency first, and read afterwards.
Our full step-by-step guidance is on what to do if you smell gas in your house, and it is worth reading before you ever need it.
Some of our guides describe simple checks you can do yourself, such as a bucket test on a pool or reading your water meter with everything switched off. They are offered so you can gather useful information before calling anyone, including us.
Do them only if you can do so safely.
We are not responsible for injury, damage or loss arising from work you choose to carry out yourself.
The figures on our cost pages are ranges based on the kind of work we actually do in this area, published so you are not walking in blind. They are estimates, not quotes.
What your job costs depends on where the leak is, how the property is built, how accessible the pipe run is, the materials involved, and what we find once we start. Only a written quote for your specific property is binding on us. Ranges also move over time, and the year shown on a cost page is the year that range was published.
Our guide on insurance and slab leaks explains, in general terms, how insurers tend to look at sudden versus gradual damage, and what is worth documenting while it is still in front of you.
It is not insurance advice, and it is not a statement about your policy. Only your insurer, reading your own policy, decides what is covered. Nothing on this site is a promise that a claim will succeed, and we cannot advocate for your claim on your behalf.
Leak detection is a diagnostic process using acoustic listening, thermal imaging, tracer gas and video camera inspection. These are good tools and they have limits.
Nothing on this website guarantees that a leak will be found in any particular length of time, that a repair will resolve every symptom you have noticed, or that no other issue exists elsewhere in the property. Where we do give guarantees, they are written down on our guarantees page and in your quote, and those are the documents that count.
We are a licensed California contractor. You can verify any California contractor's license through the Contractors State License Board at cslb.ca.gov.
We link to outside sources such as SoCalGas and the California Public Utilities Commission where their guidance is authoritative. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or accuracy.
We try to keep this site accurate and current. Codes, prices and best practice change, and a page can fall out of date between reviews. If you spot something that looks wrong, please tell us and we will check it.
